Frequently asked questions

The questions worth asking before you trust anyone with an exit or an origination channel.

Strong relationships begin with the uncomfortable questions answered clearly: incentives, confidentiality, qualification, control, fit and what happens when the answer should be no.

For business owners

Protect the legacy before the process gains momentum.

Why shouldn’t I just list the business myself and see who calls?

Because the market remembers a weak first launch. Public exposure without preparation can attract low-quality inquiries, leak sensitive information, waste months and weaken negotiating leverage. OverDeal helps you define the outcome, surface readiness gaps and reach the adviser conversation deliberately before the market begins judging the business.

Why not hire the first broker who reaches me?

Persistence is not the same as fit. The right adviser should match the business, likely transaction profile, sector, expectations and timing, and have the capacity to execute. OverDeal makes that fit a decision point instead of leaving it to chance or whoever happened to call first.

Will speaking with OverDeal expose my business or lock me into a sale?

No. Your first conversation is private, OverDeal does not publish your business as a public listing, and an introduction moves forward only with your permission. You can decline an adviser, request another fit or decide that the right next move is preparation rather than an immediate sale.

What if I am interested in an exit but not ready this quarter?

That is exactly when a deliberate first conversation can be most valuable. Readiness is not pressure to sell. It is clarity about what may protect value, what needs work and when an adviser conversation becomes useful.

What does the owner service cost?

The owner introduction service is free. Participating advisers fund OverDeal. You remain free to accept or decline an introduction, and any later adviser engagement is a separate decision governed by the agreement you choose to sign with that adviser.

How is OverDeal different from buying a list or hiring another SDR?

A list tells you who exists. Activity tells you who answered. OverDeal is built around the harder layer: identifying the right owner universe, creating the live conversation, testing authority and intent, capturing context, checking mandate fit and managing the handoff through engagement feedback.

Are these simply booked meetings?

No. A calendar event is not the product. The operating standard is an owner-direct conversation with preliminary context around decision authority, transition interest, timing, expectations, company profile and adviser fit. Your own professional assessment still follows, but the first screening burden should not arrive untouched on your calendar.

What happens when an owner is outside my mandate or not ready?

The opportunity should not be forced into your pipeline. Mandate, timing and capacity are treated as routing gates. Misaligned or premature situations are redirected, held for later follow-up or declined rather than dressed up as qualified volume.

Why should I trust OverDeal with my reputation?

Because owner communication, data handling and handoff quality are treated as operating controls, not copywriting. Partnerships are selective, the qualification standard is defined up front, owners retain choice, and post-introduction feedback is used to tighten execution.

Does OverDeal take a percentage of the transaction?

No. OverDeal is paid for origination and successful broker–seller engagement outcomes, not for the eventual transaction closing. Transaction advice, diligence, negotiation and execution remain with the independent professionals engaged by the parties.

Role & protection

The service boundaries that keep incentives clear.

Is OverDeal an M&A broker or investment bank?

No. OverDeal provides origination, preliminary qualification and owner-authorized introductions. It does not value a business, negotiate transaction terms, provide investment, legal or tax advice, handle transaction funds or execute a sale.

What does “qualified” mean?

It means a direct preliminary conversation has addressed ownership or decision authority, stated transition interest, timing, expectations, broad company context and adviser fit. It is not an audit, valuation, quality-of-earnings review, due-diligence conclusion or guarantee of an engagement or sale.

Are calls or meetings recorded?

They may be recorded for note-taking, quality, training, dispute handling and compliance when permitted by law and after any notice or consent required for the participants and jurisdictions involved.

Private by design
